Hello, I'm Johnny Cash

This is a zine I produced in Pen and Ink class. Inspired by the great man in black himself, Johnny Cash. Each piece has a spot illustration, the full song lyrics, and then the lyrics that inspired the main illustration.

Rabbit and Duck

Large scale oil painting I did for Wet Paint. Currently up in the gallery at Art Center. Another piece that I did using vintage 50's photography as reference.

The Diver

Drawing for Illustration Design Lab.

Rain Reflection

Another piece I did for Illustration Design Lab.

Opposites Attract

Piece I did for Illustration Design Lab.

Monsters

Two pieces I did for Illustration Design Lab

Paper Doll

Paper doll I made of my logo character.

Reality Specs

Old project I did for Image & Idea. It's based on the old x-ray specs advertisement in comics.

1950's Devil kids

Oil painting I did for Wet Paint. 3 foot by 4 foot on wood panel. Reference used from old photo from the 50s. Tried to keep it creepy.

Super Toast

You see it in the background but hey Super Toast saves lives, he deserves some respect.

Nova and the Magic Chest

A series of children's books I've been working on, comes with book and stuffed animal that has changeable costume.

Unexpected Super Hero: Jack Kerby

Oil painting I did for Color Theory. Jack Kerby was the artist behind all of Stan Lee's creations. Later in life Kerby began to claim that Stan Lee stole all of his ideas from Kerby. This is why I painted the two portraits as good and evil.

Unexpected Super Hero: Stan the Man Lee

Oil painting I did for Color Theory. For those that don't know, this is Stan Lee the creator of most of the major names in Marvel comics. I'm talking X-men, Spiderman, The Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and more. Using the Kerby Krackle in the background to give off some holy light.

Unexpected Super Hero: Hero Sandwich

Oil painting I did for Color Theory. Every hero deserves a sandwich and that is where the hero sandwich is the one that saves the day.

Unexpected Super Hero: Not so Mutant Ninja Turtle

Oil painting I did for Color Theory. Don't you all remember the 5th Ninja turtle? You know Tim, the one that didn't fall in the toxic waste, making it impossible for him to become a ninja. He isn't very liked by all the other brothers because of it. This is a tribute to Tim, don't think you are forgotten buddy.

Unexpected Super Hero: Pizza Guy

Oil painting I did for Color Theory. Primary color. Does he just deliver your food or is there more to the story?

Unexpected Super Hero: The Test Subject

Oil painting I did for Color Theory. Monochromatic.

Unexpected Super Hero: Fanboy Batman

Oil painting I did for Color Theory. Simultaneous contrast. Every nerd wants to be Batman but very few have the guts to dress as him.

Unexpected Super Hero: Wannabe Spidey

Oil painting I did for Color Theory. Split Complimentary. Concept came from when the Hollywood police started to crack down on costume sidewalk characters on Hollywood Blvd.

Unexpected Super Hero: Super Sucker

Oil painting I did for Color theory. Complimentary color, red & green. Even a sucker can pretend to be a super hero.

Modern Hero

Oil painting I did for Comp & Painting. Modeling credit to my little brother Kaden.

Evolution of a College Graduate

Micron pen drawing I did for Illustrative Storytelling class. The idea was to tell a six frame story with out any words. Inspired by my older brother graduating from school.

Bad Teddy

A teddy bear that I designed and sewed together. Inspired by a hybrid of monsters and cute creatures.

Death of a Super Hero

Stencil made with spray paint.

Boy named Sue

Oil painting inspired by the Johnny Cash song "A Boy named Sue"
